Mission & Vision

Midrand Bible Church (MBC) is a non-denominational, gospel-centred church in the heart of Midrand. We are epitomised by our vibrant worship and diverse community.

As a church community, we aim to engage people wherever they are at on their journey in life, growing them in their knowledge of the Bible and intimacy with God. Ultimately, our aim is to call people to a deeper level of commitment in their walk with Jesus as disciples who, in turn, make disciples.

The Eldership Team

Midrand Bible Church (MBC) and Bryanston Bible Church (BBC) have a shared, plural Eldership that oversees both churches. When we say plural, we mean that we believe in shared accountability and the wisdom of collective leaders. For more on each of these men, click here. RESOURCES

MINISTRIES

At Midrand Bible Church (MBC) we believe the good news of the gospel is available and necessary in everyone’s lives. However, we also recognise that a church family has a multitude of different individuals at various stages of their journery with us, with vastly differing needs. Below we have outlined a couple of areas that we trust will minister to you further.

Gospel Community

We believe that Gospel Communities are essential in order to fulfill Jesus’s mandate; through life-on-life missional discipleship we will cultivate mature followers of Chirst, who will go on to expand this vision further.

Kids Church

God has big plans for the future generation and we want to see the children of this city in decades to come grounded in a Jesus foundation, on a mission to change the world for Jesus!!

Badi Badibanga

Badi is 32 years old and was born into a large family in the DRC (Congo). They relocated to Johannesburg in 1993 and he has had a heart for Jozi ever since! In 2010 he married Stephanie and they now have two handsome boys short of 12 months apart, Aydon and Joziah.

Badi became a Christian in late high school after a series of key events which included the death of a friend’s brother, the loss of his dad’s business, and the viewing of a play that portrayed the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was at university through the Campus Outreach ministry that he was discipled in faith and began to feel a calling to vocational ministry.

After graduating from the University of Johannesburg with a Sport Psychology degree, Badi worked for Campus Outreach and spent time helping young students know and treasure Christ, and also worked as an apprentice for a local church near the University of Johannesburg. He then attended George Whitfield College in Cape Town for his theological studies, and has worked as a pastor ever since, joining the BBC team in 2014.

Badi and Stephanie love engaging with their community and having people over to their house for meals and games. Badi also enjoys playing and watching sports of any kind, but especially rugby and American football.

Bob Judelsohn

Bob Judelsohn, a Cape Tonian by birth, is 54 years old. He lives in Bryanston and is employed at Portman Wealth, a multi-family office, offering unique financial services solutions to families. He is married to Liesl and they have two children; a daughter, Kelley, and a son, Nicholas.

Bob became a Christian in 1976 at the age of 14. He was fortunate to have grown up in a Christian home, and was involved in the local Bellville Presbyterian Church for many years. In 1987, he moved up to Johannesburg and joined Rosebank Union Church where he was involved in various leadership roles, including being part of the formation of the Twenties Group. It was here that he began to lead worship, as well as various Alpha Groups and Home Church bible studies. In 1994, under the watchful eye of Monty Sholund, he enrolled at the Rosebank Bible College and completed two years of enriching biblical teaching.

In 2001, he and Liesl were transferred to Geneva, Switzerland, where they lived for five years. During this time they were involved in leading worship at Westlake Church in Nyon. In 2007 they returned to South Africa and joined BBC in 2008. Bob has since been involved in leading Alpha and Bible 101 courses.

He enjoys all forms of sport, and is a proud Stormers supporter. His main hobby is wine collecting and sharing the spoils and a meal with family and friends.

Trevor Brown

Trevor Brown is 55 years old. He lives in Bryanston and works at Deloitte, a professional services firm. He is married to Tracy and they have two adult children; a daughter, Jaclyn Norval or “Jax” (as she is more commonly called), married to Graham and a son, Cameron or “Cam”, who is currently engaged to be married to Kirsti during 2016.

Trev became a Christian on 13 September 1970 at the age of 10, after listening to a message at the local Baptist church in England. His Dad helped him pray to become a Christian that evening and, since then, he has had a steady (with its ups and downs!) Christian walk. He was very blessed to inherit a gospel legacy, with both sets of Grandparents being strong Christians of the Brethren denomination; his one Grandfather (“Tabernacle” Brown), was a missionary in Africa, planting churches, building schools and spreading the gospel to people who had never heard it before. Trev’s father was born in the Congo (today DRC) and returned to study in England, where he married and had three sons. When the family emigrated to South Africa in the seventies, they attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Florida Park, where Trevor and Tracy were later married. This church planted a new church in Wilro Park with Trev and Tracy joining several other families as founder members, and Trev serving as its Treasurer for several years.

On returning back to Johannesburg after a brief work stint in East London, they visited BBC to get in touch with their roots – they have been attending ever since; for over twenty-five years. Trev became the Treasurer of BBC in 1992 and served on the diaconate in that role for many years. He was also very involved with the Music Ministry throughout the past twenty years and has led five Alpha courses in the past decade. He was appointed as an Elder in 2004.

His hobbies include following the English Premier League (he has been a passionate Arsenal supporter for over 40 years), walking, enjoying good food and wine and travelling to different holiday destinations, his current favourite being Hermanus, in the Western Cape.
